Joe is an effective problem-solver with an entrepreneurial spirit who hopes to start a nonprofit one day.
Meet Joe, CarbonBetter’s Technology Manager. In his free time Joe enjoys gardening, kayaking and hiking. At work he manages CarbonBetter’s technology infrastructure and keeps the business running smoothly. Sustainability habits such as composting and walking anytime he can avoid driving are important to Joe. He’s a valuable team leader, and we’re happy to have him here. Let’s get to know Joe!
Joe, what do you love about working at CarbonBetter?
The greatest thing about working here is all the smart, talented, and hard working people that I work with every day. We always have each others’ backs and are able to grow and learn from each others experiences.
What does your day-to-day look like at CarbonBetter?
Every day has its own unique challenges and solutions that I get involved with. Some days can be filled with tracking and resolving issues. Other times, I help plan and evaluate solutions to meet our ever changing needs. None of this could be possible without the advice and hard work of the great teams I work with.
Do you have any personal or professional goals that you’d like to share?
My goal is to start a nonprofit that helps allocate computer resources to helping the world. Anything from helping make better vaccines to understanding weather patterns.

JOE ON WHAT HE LOVES ABOUT CARBONBETTER
Do you have any personal sustainability habits that are important to you?
I love to garden so composting has always been a big sustainability habit for me. I also enjoy walking, so if I can avoid taking my car to any place then I will.
What is your favorite spot/activity in Austin?
I love kayaking at Lady Bird Lake, it has such beautiful views and everyone is so chill and relaxed.
Do you have any pets? Tell us about them!
I have two dogs named Bowser and Splinter who are always a handful. I also have four chickens who generously give me fresh eggs for breakfast every morning.
What are some of your hobbies?
I love to golf, kayak, and go on hikes. When the weather is bad I am always down to play some cards or board games.
Have you taken any personality tests (Myers-Briggs, Enneagram, etc)? If so, tell us about your personality and what it means!
My Myers-Briggs score is INTJ which are the Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Judging personality traits. They tend to be problem solvers, and that is something I always have been keen on. I always love when a challenging problem comes my way, and always take it head on.
What's something you've learned recently, or something you want to learn?
I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit and so I am consistently trying to learn new things about running a business, and the best way of working with people.
Thanks for sharing, Joe! We are so lucky to work alongside you every day. Stay tuned for the next team feature in our Life @ CarbonBetter series.
