Developing the next generation of energy traders.

What is ACT?

The ACT internship is CarbonBetter’s exclusive 10-week pipeline into trading. In one of the most competitive industries to enter, this program offers a rare way to jump-start your career. You’ll work full-time in natural gas operations, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship from senior traders while making real trading decisions.

You’ll be immersed in a true apprenticeship model, working alongside experienced traders who guide you through the complexities of energy trading. Top performers earn full-time offers, joining a team that thrives on data analysis, problem solving, and grit. This highly competitive program provides direct access to high-level operations and a fast track into energy trading from day one.

Along the way, interns can also have fun in Austin, building connections and exploring everything the city has to offer.

The internship is an exclusive, 10-week apprenticeship where you join our operations team full-time, immersing yourself in a self-directed learning experience. Designed for high achievers who thrive under pressure, it sets the foundation for top performers to advance into the ACT Program and master energy trading at the highest level.

What Will You Learn

In just 10 weeks, you’ll get hands-on experience with every piece of the trading puzzle. You’ll see how deals are scheduled and executed, and gain a working knowledge of the contracts (NAESBs and ISDAs) that make the market move. You’ll learn how to navigate federal and state regulations, interpret tricky tariff language, and reconcile contracts against real invoices.

You’ll sharpen your ability to assess risk and credit on any deal, understand capacity releases and the players behind them, and map pricing spreads across the US and within individual pipelines. You’ll also dive into the business of energy retail and its link to trading, while mastering the ins and outs of transportation costs and strategies.
