Passionate and persistent, Ariana is an advocate for positive change at work and at home.

Meet Ariana, CarbonBetter's Director of Business Development. New to Austin, you can find her checking out some of the local eateries or hiking one of the many local trails in her free time. At work, Ariana fills an important role as our first business development hire. Her day-to-day is focused on helping organizations navigate their decarbonization targets, whether with the purchase of carbon offsets and/or with their sustainability planning and reporting. We're grateful for the experience Ariana brings to the table, and we look forward to watching her team grow. Let’s get to know Ariana!

Ariana, what do you love about working at CarbonBetter?

The people, the mission, the possibilities, and the coffee! We are passionately focused change-agents with the shared drive to accelerate net-zero with meaningful impact across industries. The team is agile, transparent, solution-oriented, pragmatic, and collaborative. It is an experienced team of daring leaders—willing to disrupt the status quo and to evolve with the quickly changing landscape of sustainable development. I get to work with the best and the brightest in sustainability and decarbonization and with organizations that are voluntarily making significant changes to reduce emissions and achieve carbon neutrality. It is the pinnacle of meaningful work, and the fresh and dynamic team of CarbonBetter thought leaders makes the job fun and insightful. Plus, the coffee machine is next level.

What does your day-to-day look like at CarbonBetter?

My day-to-day at CarbonBetter is preeminently focused on facilitating organizations in their decarbonization targets, whether with the purchase of carbon offsets and/or with their sustainability planning and reporting. I work to arm clients with the most up-to-date information on market conditions, available accredited carbon offsets, and with our climate service team of experts, I assist clients with their sustainability planning needs. I work daily towards solutions that mitigate risk, lower costs, and increase revenue growth for our partners and then, I get to help tell their great stories of their carbon-neutral and sustainability progress achievements.

Do you have any personal or professional goals that you'd like to share?

My work now is a continued personal and professional goal… to work in an environment that supports diversity, female leadership, and a mission that extends beyond generations and beyond the bottom line. Meaningful work that allows me to be my whole self and to be the best life partner and mother is always the goal.

Ariana's PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GOALS
What's the best advice you've ever received?

“Seek first to understand.” Before a reaction, I believe education is a powerful tool in being able to fully comprehend the situation or persons’ viewpoint resulting in better communication, collaboration, and an appreciation of differences.

Tell us about your family:

I have three amazing independently minded children that are a mix of sweet, salty, and sour (ages 9, 15, 18), and they are very fortunate to have the best incoming bonus mom—my fiancé, partner, and the incredible Austinite that brought me here.

If you live in Austin, what is your favorite spot/activity?

I just moved to Austin very recently, so this is a developing list, but so far, I’ve enjoyed the accessibility to hiking and water activities here in Austin. Also, the many cool eateries around town.

Do you have any personal sustainability habits that are important to you?

Recycling, upcycling, and being a consciousness and low-impact consumer. I try to buy very little, and it is important to me to participate in the circular economy as much as possible.

Do you have any pets? Tell us about them!

We have two fur babies, Willow and Moon Beam. They don’t like each other much, but their moms have forced them into sibling co-habitation.

What is something that people are usually surprised to learn about you?

I’ve asked and the answer is my persistence, haha. I guess I don’t give up easily.

What are some of your hobbies?

Running, golf, hiking, kayaking, traveling, fishing, skiing.

Have you taken any personality tests (Myers-Briggs, Enneagram, etc)? If so, tell us about your personality and what it means!

I’m an INFJ (Advocate) on Myers-Briggs test. INFJs seek purpose and value cooperation, sensitivity, and independence, and INFJs look for careers that fulfill a mission to better the world. My top 5 results in the Gallup Strength Finders Assessment are as follows: 1) Learner 2) Relator 3) Strategic 4) Responsibility 5) Individualization. My enneagram is type five, the Investigator, which is described as insightful and curious with an ability to concentrate and focus on developing complex ideas.

What's something you've learned recently, or something you want to learn?

I am learning more about meditation and sound therapy, and I've enjoyed going to the cisterns for both.

Thanks for sharing, Ariana! Let's save earth together! Stay tuned for the next team feature in our Life @ CarbonBetter series.
