Diana grew up on a farm in the Midwest and sustainability has always been a big part of her life.

Meet Diana, CarbonBetter’s Director of Marketing and Origination. Diana grew up on a farm in Coatesville, Indiana, where she learned to incorporate sustainability into her daily life at a young age. Diana still lives on a small farm today, with her husband, 3 daughters, 2 border collies, several cats, and a number of farm animals. When she’s not gardening or playing Pickleball, Diana spends her time at work developing relationships with industrial customers in the Midwest and assisting with gas trading. Let’s get to know Diana!

Diana, what do you love about working at CarbonBetter?

We are able to see all aspects of the business which enables us to really understand how our work contributes to the overall success of the company.

What does your day-to-day look like at CarbonBetter?

I pursue large, industrial customers in the Midwest, primarily in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky. I develop relationships with the customers and manage their accounts. I also assist with our daily trading activity and securing supply and transport for our longer term business.

“We are able to see all aspects of the business which enables us to really understand how our work contributes to the overall success of the company.”

DIANA ON WHAT SHE LOVES ABOUT CARBONBETTER
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

"God gave us one mouth and two ears for a reason." I try to follow this advice daily, not only at work but with my family and friends. Sometimes it's difficult when there are so many distractions, so I'm always reminding myself.

Do you have any personal sustainability habits that are important to you?

Growing up on a farm, we were doing this before it was "cool." We have always had an appreciation for our natural resources and understood the importance of protecting them. I think it's important to leave things better than you found them. This can be done in many different ways. I would like to add some wind technology at my house. Based on our location (wide open spaces), I think we could certainly create some wind energy.

Where did you grow up? What's something interesting about your hometown?

I grew up on a small farm near Coatesville, Indiana (population 558). Nearly everyone knew each other and looked after one another. It was a great place to grow up.

Tell us about your family:

My husband and I have three daughters: Hana, Sara and Elly. We live on a small farm just south of Indianapolis, Indiana in the growing community of Bargersville. We raise animals and 2 of my daughters show animals competitively in the Midwest. We are Notre Dame football fans and enjoy hanging out at home with our family and friends, playing cards and corn hole.

Do you have any pets? Tell us about them! Also, insert your favorite picture!

We have two Border Collies, Izzy and Rudy. We also have several cats (about 6). We never know exactly how many as they live in our barns and usually strays tend to stick around. We have chickens and goats as well. We also have two "grand dogs," Duela (a Saint Bernard) and Mack (an Australian Shepherd).

What are some of your hobbies?

I have a vegetable and flower garden that I use as my therapy time. I have a "she shed" near my garden that I'm fixing up. It's not "Pinterest Photo" worthy yet.

Have you taken any personality tests (Myers-Briggs, Enneagram, etc)? If so, tell us about your personality and what it means!

My Myers-Brigs type is ESFJ, which is pretty accurate. I am energized by people, I make decisions based on facts and details, I care about people and how things impact them, and I'm a bit of a rule follower (most of the time).

What's something you've learned recently, or something you want to learn?

I learned how to play Pickleball. I think it's a good sport that I'll be able to play as I get older and will enjoy playing with my family. I've asked my husband to build us a Pickleball court at our house.

Thanks for sharing, Diana! We are so lucky to work alongside you every day. Stay tuned for the next team feature in our Life @ CarbonBetter series.
