By Chris Sylvester

Meet Dominic Sung, Director of Business Development at CarbonBetter. Since joining the company in 2022, Dominic has been instrumental in growing the Climate Services business, guiding clients through their sustainability journeys. His day-to-day responsibilities include fostering relationships with both prospective and existing clients, crafting bespoke solutions for their sustainability challenges, and navigating the complex voluntary carbon market. Dominic holds a BBA in Honors and Finance from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Outside of his professional life, Dominic is a family man, sharing his life with his wife, Patricia, and their two energetic boys. He is an outdoorsman, art and sports enthusiast, whiskey aficionado, and a culinary adventurer. Dominic’s commitment to sustainability extends into his personal life, with a focus on recycling, composting, and maintaining a native plant garden. Let’s get to know more about Dominic!

Dominic, what do you love about working at CarbonBetter?

It is so fulfilling to be able to build and shape a business with a great team that is enabling our clients and customers to do better. Helping facilitate and create impactful change in an ever-evolving landscape definitely keeps me on my toes!

What does your day-to-day look like at CarbonBetter?

No two days are the same, but a large part of business development is building relationships with our potential and existing clients, engaging them where they are in their sustainability journey to work on bespoke solutions. There’s also a lot of daily effort in the voluntary carbon market to work with our supplier partners in order to source credits for clients and to maintain a strong view into an unregulated, complex, and opaque market.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

Keep the main thing the main thing.

Do you have any personal sustainability habits that are important to you?

Recycling and composting are things that we choose to be diligent about. Maintaining a yard/garden that is comprised of native plants, is a butterfly garden, and is a flourishing ecosystem for local flora and fauna is also very important.

Where did you grow up? What's something interesting about your hometown?

Houston. It has the second highest concentration in the country of theater seats in a concentrated downtown area.

Tell us about your family:

I am married to an amazing wife, Patricia, and have two rambunctious boys, Elijah (9) and Joseph (6).

What is something that people are usually surprised to learn about you?

I've hot-lapped the Nurburgring.

What are some of your hobbies?

Travel, food (both cooking and consuming), art, music, sports (huge Longhorn and Astros fan), whiskey, tinkering on things with motors, the outdoors, and the list could go on and on!

Thanks for sharing, Dominic! We are so lucky to work alongside you every day. Stay tuned for the next team feature in our Life @ CarbonBetter series.
