A talented analyst, Ethan Hill balances work with a variety of hobbies and interests.

Meet Ethan, a credit and risk analyst at CarbonBetter. At work, Ethan creates and analyzes reports to ensure CarbonBetter follows its credit parameters and doesn’t take on too much risk. He appreciates the impact he’s able to make by working on a small, close-knit team, where his voice is heard. He grew up in Chesterfield, Missouri (MO), went to school at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska (NE), and now works and lives in Austin, Texas, where you can find him running by the lake after work. His interests include watching movies, baseball, and anything about France. Let’s get to know Ethan!

Ethan, what do you love about working at CarbonBetter?

The best part of working at CarbonBetter is its smaller size. It’s much easier to develop relationships, communicate, and let your voice be heard in a smaller workspace, not to mention you can see a direct impact of the work you do.

What does your day-to-day look like at CarbonBetter?

Most of my day consists of risk reporting, ensuring we are abiding by our credit parameters, and monitoring hedging activities.

“Understand that working hard doesn’t mean you can’t have a good work/life balance. Work as hard as you can when you’re working but never let that impede your personal goals and values.”

Ethan ON the best advice he’s received
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

Understand that working hard doesn't mean you can't have a good work/life balance. Work as hard as you can when you're working but never let that impede your personal goals and values.

Where did you grow up? What's something interesting about your hometown?

I grew up in Chesterfield, MO, about 20 minutes from downtown St. Louis. I lived there 18 years before going to school at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. St. Louis is home to one of the most successful Major League Baseball teams, the St. Louis Cardinals, who have won 11 World Series titles.

What's your favorite activity in Austin?

I love going for runs by the river a few times a week.

Tell us about your family:

My immediate family consists of my mom, dad, and two brothers, Larson (20) and Chase (12). I also have an amazing girlfriend of almost six years named Lizzy, who I've been dating since high school.

What are some of your hobbies?

I love playing guitar, watching movies, and running. I used to do 5k runs in high school and plan to do more in Austin.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I love all things France! I've been to France 3 times and am proficient (for the most part) in speaking, writing, and reading French.

Thanks for sharing, Ethan! We are so lucky to work alongside you every day. Stay tuned for the next team feature in our Life @ CarbonBetter series.
