Sae is originally from Japan and she loves to expand her horizons through traveling and exploring more countries.
Sae, what do you love about working at CarbonBetter?
The team here is awesome. They are all supportive and friendly. I also like that I get to work on a wide variety of projects.
Do you have any personal sustainability habits?
There are three main things that I try to follow consistently:
- Bringing reusable shopping bags to grocery stores
- Keeping the thermostat at 78 degrees in the summer and 60 degrees in the winter
- Recycling as much as possible
What is something that people are usually surprised to learn about you?
My major was Astronomy when I went to the University of Texas at Austin.
“I love learning about the world and dive deeper into science, history, and geography.”
Sae’s favorite things
Where did you grow up? What's something interesting about your hometown?
I was born and grew up in a suburb city in Tokyo, Japan. It's a pretty city conveniently located about 40 min away by train from the Central Tokyo area. I love my hometown because it's not as crowded as the biggest cities in Tokyo like Shinjuku, but it’s not rural either. On a sunny day, I could see Mount Fuji from where I lived (check out Sae's view!).
What are your favorite spots and activities in Austin?
I love going to barbecue restaurants in Austin. I also like to walk around the Capitol and the downtown area to play Pokemon GO and Pikmin Bloom.
What is your Myers-Briggs personality?
I'm an INTJ. Apparently, INTJ people tend to be independent thinkers who love to pursue knowledge and are logically minded, but have a harder time connecting emotionally.
What are some of your hobbies?
Video games and board games. I also like reading books and watching videos to learn new things.
What's something you've learned recently, or something you want to learn?
I want to learn different languages. Currently, I'm learning Spanish.
Thanks for sharing, Sae! We are so lucky to have you as a part of the CarbonBetter team. Stay tuned for the next team feature in our Life @ CarbonBetter series and learn more about our team here.
