SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING OVERVIEW
Sustainability reporting serves as a valuable tool to achieve corporate commitments and better manage climate-related business risks. This white paper walks you through what's typically included and what should be considered.
🌍 Carbon markets can feel overwhelming—fragmented data, limited transparency, and conflicting advice make it hard to know where to start. In this webinar, our experts give a clear, practical introduction to the VCM.
2024 CarbonBetter Impacts
At CarbonBetter, we help businesses navigate the journey toward carbon neutrality while holding ourselves to the same high standard (see our environmental statement and goals). For the 2024 calendar year, we are proud to have remained carbon neutral across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
We are currently calculating the emissions from our operations, which will be offset using credits from our CarbonBetter Certified Offset (CBCO) Portfolio. The portfolio features a curated mix of projects designed to deliver measurable climate benefits with impactful social and environmental co-benefits.
2024 Provision Impacts
Provision is a retail energy supplier and a subsidiary of CarbonBetter. Provision's clean energy plans go beyond carbon neutral by not only offsetting 100% of customers' energy usage but also by planting trees, which are carbon-capturing powerhouses. For each unit of energy customers use, Provision purchases and retires credits on their behalf, which fund projects creating clean energy, in the case of electricity, or projects that are reducing carbon emissions, in the case of natural gas.
Between October 2020 and December 2024, Provision customers funded 154,307 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy, offset 105,935 tons of carbon, and planted 115,856 trees. We're happy to share that in 2024, we surpassed 100,000 in all impact categories! The offset carbon is equal to avoiding the emissions from driving nearly 270 million miles.
In 2024, Provision supported projects like mangrove restoration in Senegal, funding 2,500 plantings to restore the Gambia River Watershed. This initiative enhances biodiversity, improves soil health, and provides economic opportunities for over 6,000 families in the region. Pictures of this project are below, and Provision's Ecodrive impact dashboard can be viewed here.

2024 Events
SXSW
At SXSW 2024, we hosted a panel that focused on strategies for addressing hidden emissions. We'd like to thank and give a shoutout to leaders from Whole Foods Market, Asana, and Fierce Whiskers, who joined our panel and each shared their unique challenges and solutions to addressing the hidden Scope 3 emissions in their businesses.
SF Climate Week
Our team participated in various panels during SF Climate Week 2024, focusing on scaling carbon dioxide (CO2) removal, innovative financing, and enhancing carbon market transparency. The week began at the Goals House dinner, where we explored nature-based solutions, disruptive technologies, and carbon markets alongside leaders like Vanessa Chan (US Department of Energy) and Suzanne DiBianca (Salesforce). We also co-sponsored the Carbon Newbie Summit, which welcomed over 500 attendees for foundational carbon literacy sessions led by experts from organizations like Allbirds and DocuSign. These events highlighted financing gaps for climate tech and the growing importance of robust life cycle assessments for new innovations.
SB'24 / VERGE 24
Our team attended SB’24 and VERGE 24, where alignment, compliance, and public perception were central themes. At SB’24, we engaged in discussions on achieving internal buy-in for sustainability efforts and forming pre-competitive alliances to drive innovation. At VERGE 24, we explored challenges in supply chain data collection and balancing compliance with actionable climate strategies. Both conferences emphasized the need for clear communication and structured approaches to sustainability.
Futures Summit in New Dehli
Our Managing Director of Climate Services, Pankaj Tanwar, attended the inaugural Futures Summit, South Asia’s first CO2 removal (CDR) conference, hosted by Alt Carbon. Pankaj participated in a panel discussion on “Client Perspectives for the Global South,” exploring the challenges and opportunities in scaling CDR solutions across the region. The summit focused on India’s growing technical expertise, natural advantages, and the critical role of government support in driving sustainable development. As India positions itself as a leader in CDR, the event highlighted its potential to integrate climate action with economic growth.
Carbon Newbie Summit & NYC Climate Week
Our team participated in Climate Week NYC 2024, engaging in discussions on urgent climate action and immediate solutions to achieve net-zero goals. We attended panels on Scope 3 emissions, clean energy transitions, and voluntary carbon markets (VCMs), which focused on the importance of transparency and integrity. At the Carbon Newbie Summit, we led discussions for new corporate buyers, discussing practical approaches to carbon projects. Collaboration, technology like AI in sustainability, and forming partnerships to drive meaningful progress were discussion topics.
Houston Energy & Climate Week
Our team participated in Houston Energy & Climate Week 2024, joining discussions on the energy sector’s dual responsibility to meet global demands while reducing emissions. Collaboration was a key theme, with startups, investors, and industry leaders working together to scale climate solutions. There was also talk about transparency in climate action and demonstrated how sustainability efforts are extending beyond energy to include sectors like fashion and technology.
GreenBiz '24
At GreenBiz ’24, our team joined over 2,000 sustainability professionals to discuss decarbonization, new regulations, and Scope 3 emissions reduction strategies. Key themes included navigating the SEC and EU reporting requirements, addressing greenhushing through transparent communication, and leveraging advancements in carbon markets to improve carbon credit quality. There was a focus on the importance of collaboration and innovation as businesses adapt to evolving climate challenges and work toward ambitious sustainability goals.
